What to expect from your acupuncture practitioner
As an experienced acupuncturist my philosophy is to provide professional treatments to the local community of Drumnadrochit and surrounding areas, as complementary services in the region are limited.
RemuAcu 'To the Point' Acupuncture Clinic is dedicated to providing confidential and private consultations and treatments. The clinic, solely operated by myself, offers a holistic approach to treatment. Following assessment a personalised plan will be created for you. As well as acupuncture, massage, nutritional advice, exercise programme and lifestyle changes may be incorporated in your plan depending on your needs.
What is the process?
On your first visit a full medical history and assessment will be taken to allow me to assess your general health as well as your specific problem. You may be asked about your sleep patterns, diet and your emotional state.
What happens next?
Depending on your ailment you may be asked to remove some clothing and lay on the treatment couch. However some treatments can be completed sitting in a chair. It is advisable to wear loose clothing.
What does acupuncture treatment feel like?
Acupuncture uses very fine solid needles, and these are inserted shallowly into the skin. When inserted the sensation of the needles is often described as a tingling or a dull ache. The needles are left in place for about 20 minutes; during that time you may have a feeling heaviness in the limbs and feeling of deep relaxation.
Is it safe?
Acupuncture is a very safe form of treatment. It does not tend to give any adverse side effects and 'single use' pre-sterilised needles are always used, which are disposed of after each treatment.
Who can have acupuncture treatment?
Acupuncture is a safe treatment for all. Children, adults and the elderly can all benefit from acupuncture treatment. It is safe to have throughout pregnancy.
How often will I need treatment?
Each person is unique and so the number of treatments will depend on the person. Some change can be felt after two of three treatments whereas in some chronic conditions it may take longer. Normally you would visit the acupuncturist once or twice weekly at first, although some conditions require less frequent treatments.
